Getting Started with Lessonbee: A Guide for Schools and Educators

lessonbee getting started

Getting your students started with Lessonbee is designed to be flexible. Whether you’re setting up one health class or managing multiple classes across a school, you can choose the enrollment approach that works best for your implementation.

Once your Lessonbee access has been set up, your school or group administrator can manage students, access curriculum resources, and review student progress from one account.

1. Start with Your School’s Lessonbee Group

When your school gets started with Lessonbee, students can be organized into a dedicated group with its own Group Page. Your Group Page displays your school or group name and gives students a consistent place to return to Lessonbee throughout the school year.

Students can bookmark the Group Page and use it whenever they need to return and sign in.

If you manage more than one Lessonbee group, you can select the group you want to work with from Group Management. Each group maintains its own student roster, assigned courses, seat count, and reporting.

If the same group of students will take multiple Lessonbee courses, those courses can be assigned to a single group. Students register once and access all of the courses assigned to that group from the same Lessonbee account. There’s no need to create separate groups simply because students have access to more than one course.

Your Lessonbee group and assigned curriculum may already be configured for you. In that case, you can move directly to enrolling students.

2. Choose How You Want to Enroll Students

Lessonbee provides several ways to enroll students. Choose the option that works best for your class and how much of the enrollment process you want to manage yourself.

Let students register through your school’s group registration page

For many schools, this is the simplest way to get an entire class started.

Lessonbee can provide a group-specific registration URL connected directly to your school’s Lessonbee group. Share the link with your students and they can create their own account and password. Once registration is complete, they are automatically added to the correct group and receive access to all Lessonbee courses assigned to it.

Students only need to register once. If the same students need multiple Lessonbee courses, those courses can be assigned to the same group so students aren’t asked to complete multiple registration forms or create multiple accounts.

After registering, students will see a confirmation that they are registered. They can select the person icon at the top right of the Lessonbee site to access their Dashboard, then select Learning Dashboard to see their assigned courses.

Students can also bookmark their school’s Group Page for an easy way to return to Lessonbee and sign in.

If you’d like to use self-registration and don’t have your group’s registration URL or Group Page, contact support@lessonbee.com.

Import a class roster

For larger classes, uploading a CSV is another efficient option, particularly when you already have a student roster and prefer to manage enrollment for your students.

Lessonbee provides a student import template in the School Implementation Starter Pack. Create a separate copy of the template for each Lessonbee group and enter the required student information using the existing column headings:

user_email, user_pass, first_name, last_name

The student’s school email address will be used for their account, and user_pass establishes their initial password.

After selecting the correct group in Group Management, upload your completed CSV and verify that the students appear in the roster.

Add students individually

This works well when you’re enrolling only a few students or adding a new student after your initial class setup.

From Group Management, select your group and add the student under Users. Enter the student’s first name, last name, school email address, and an initial password. Once added, confirm that the student appears in the group roster.

Let students join with an enrollment key

Enrollment keys provide another self-enrollment option. Because enrollment keys are associated with individual available seats, this method may be most useful when enrolling individual students rather than an entire class at once.

First-time Lessonbee users can visit the Join Lessonbee for the First Time page, enter the enrollment key provided by their teacher or school, and complete registration.

Students who already have a Lessonbee account should keep that account. They can sign in and use Key Redemption from their dashboard to redeem an enrollment key and join an additional group.

Students should never create a second Lessonbee account simply because they need access to another class or group.

3. Help Students Return to Lessonbee

Once students are enrolled, they can sign in using the email address and password associated with their Lessonbee account.

If students registered through your school’s group registration page, they created their own password during registration. You can also give students your school’s Group Page URL to bookmark, giving them a consistent, school-specific starting point whenever they return to Lessonbee.

After signing in, students can open Dashboard → Learning Dashboard to see all courses assigned to their group.

If you added students individually or by CSV, provide them with the initial password used during enrollment.

Encourage students to use their school email address for Lessonbee. Using a consistent school email helps prevent duplicate accounts and makes it easier to keep students connected to the correct group.

Google and Microsoft sign-in are coming soon. Once enabled, schools using Google Workspace or Microsoft 365 will also be able to let students authenticate with their existing school accounts.

4. Find Your Teaching and Implementation Resources

Your Lessonbee access may include more than the student-facing curriculum.

Depending on your school’s purchase, administrators and educators may also receive teacher guides, curriculum overviews, scope and sequence documents, worksheets, planning resources, and other implementation materials.

Sign in and visit My Account → Downloads to find the resources included with your access. If you received the School Implementation Starter Pack, download and unzip it before getting started.

5. Manage Your Group Throughout the School Year

Enrollment doesn’t have to stop after initial setup. New students can be added later, and seats can be reassigned for normal enrollment changes when a student leaves a class, transfers, or was added by mistake.

Seats should not be cycled among students simply to serve more students than the school’s licensed seat count. If your school needs to serve additional students, contact Lessonbee about adding seats.

From Group Management, educators can also access group reporting and review student progress. If your school uses multiple Lessonbee groups, make enrollment changes within the appropriate group so each teacher continues to see the correct roster and reports.

If the same cohort needs access to multiple Lessonbee courses, consider keeping those students together in one group and assigning the additional courses to that group. This gives students one account, one group, and one consistent place to access their Lessonbee learning.

Need Help Getting Started?

There isn’t one required way to onboard every school. Some educators prefer to let students register themselves through their school’s dedicated registration page, while others prefer to upload an entire roster or add students individually. Lessonbee can also assist with setup and student imports when needed.
